Summary

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office within the Department of Agriculture whose mission is to ensure economy, efficiency, and integrity in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs and operations through the successful execution of audits, investigations, and reviews. This position is located in USDA-OIG, Office of Audit, Work Unit 18. The selectee will provide writing expertise for OIG's Audit performance, financial, and business operation work units.

Duties

Writes audit reports, inspection and evaluation reports, annual plans, semi-annual reports to Congress, management challenges, briefing papers, budget requests, speeches, and other writing/editing work.

Identify management issues implied but not evident in written drafts.

Review, analyze, and edit multiple drafts of high-level documents.

Analyze documents for clarity and coherence.

Handles multiple writing projects and coordinates with management to prioritize work and meet inflexible deadlines with well-written products.

Collaborates with involved parties to develop and teach training courses intended to improve Audit staff writing.

Requirements

You must be a US Citizen or US National. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt. Upon completion of your probationary or trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
