Summary

About the Position: Serve as a Tribal Liaison, providing intra-district and intergovernmental coordination for the purpose of satisfying the interests of the US Army Corps of Engineers and the respective tribal governments. Applicants applying for Yankton, SD as a duty location, your actually duty location will be at the project office in Crofton, NE. Management has requested a competitive and non-competitive certificate for this position.

Duties

Serve as District Native American Coordinator and works with Division, HQUSACE, and other Districts and Division on Native American issues concerning policy, consultation, and protocol.

Establish and maintain close working relationships with various Districts' Native American Coordinators and other Federal agencies in the development and implementation of the Native American Coordination Program.

Identify Native American issues, anticipating their impacts, and coordinating and recommending appropriate policy to the District Commander.

Foster mutually beneficial relations with the Tribes by identifying, evaluating, and assuring that the District is proactively responding to Tribal concerns in a timely fashion.

Develop, manage, and coordinate all programs and initiatives undertaken by the Corps of Engineers and the District regarding all Native American tribes within the District boundaries.

Establish, review, and make recommendations for development of annual program and budget proposals involving the Native American program.

Conduct regular meetings as the District representative with tribal chairmen, tribal councils, staff and members, as necessary, to discuss issues and programs.

Act as liaison and attends meetings with key Tribal, local, state, and federal agency officials.
