Summary

This position is part of the WAPA-UGP-Upper Great Plains. As a Supervisory Electronics Engineer, you will supervise Engineer(s) and Trades and Craftsmen and serves as the Expert Engineer Advisor for North Dakota Maintenance Office, managing power and communication systems, preventive maintenance, equipment, safety programs, facilities, and resources. *Selectee must report to the Bismarck, ND office*

Duties

As a Supervisory Electronics Engineer, you will: Develop and execute the long-range preventative maintenance program and budget for assigned communications facilities incorporating the latest industry maintenance techniques, practices and procedures. Monitor maintenance accomplishment, equipment status, work schedules, and reporting. Direct the continuing analysis of day-to-day operations, malfunctions, equipment failures, testing and maintenance procedures, and initiate or make recommendations for purchases, repair, alterations, replacements and additions required to prevent equipment failures and outages. Be responsible for preparing reports; maintaining or initiating the creation of new drawings and diagrams; and maintaining manuals, instruction files, equipment data files, and maintenance forecast schedules for assigned facilities. Determine needs, develop tests, and implement computer applications to facilitate a viable maintenance management program. Collaborate with organizations responsible for power system maintenance and the Dispatch Center in maintaining necessary communication channels, supervisory control and data acquisition, radio facilities, microwave facilities, computer networks, and data communications equipment required for proper power system operations. Conduct field tests and surveys and compile data required to determine the location and equipment required for new communication facilities or additions to the existing systems. Also, conduct special tests and studies to solve special problems and supply data needed to improve operations. Manage allocated organization resources. Determine material, equipment, and personnel necessary to carry out the work; assign, direct, and review work performed; recommend or select employees, administer discipline, determine employee training, establish work standards, evaluate performance. Ensure on-the-job safety and health of all employees supervised. Identify and correct job safety and health and environmental hazards; instruct employees on safety requirements and review and report loss incidents in accordance with WAPA and Office of Worker's Compensation regulations.

Requirements

Security clearance and associated requirements - high risk/tier 4. This position requires the ability to operate a Government vehicle. The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid state driver's license. The incumbent is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The incumbent must wear Arc Rated protective clothing when in proximity to exposed energized circuits.
