Duties
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST (PROTECTION) -Title 32, GS-0080-11, you will serve as the ARNG Protection Specialist for functional elements and related physical and operations security policy and issues, handling of intelligence and law enforcement sensitive information, managing assigned program areas, directing studies and reviewing, revising and implementing protection policy and budget projects. This position is located within the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), J3 Domestic Operations Directorate. ***Indefinite positions are not permanent and have no guarantee to continued employment. Indefinite employees may be subject to separation from employment at any time with a 30 day written notification. If the position becomes permanent, employee may be converted to a permanent appointment without further competition at management's discretion.***
Requirements
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E6 through E9, WO1 through CW5 and O1 through O4 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this positions. This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the unit is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
