Duties

Provides executive-level leadership of the District's comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health Program and performs the full range of first-level supervisory duties for a multidisciplinary team of safety and occupational health professionals.

Administers the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) program, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and overseeing program policies, objectives, evaluations, surveys, and resources.

Establishes program policies and procedures, conducts evaluations, and develops resource requirements. Ensures integration with local management systems and emergency operations.

Oversees the development and execution of the SOH training program, including curricula, instruction, and training for managers and employees.

Serves as the District’s technical expert on SOH issues, offering advice on complex operational and construction scenarios. Represents the District on professional committees and provides expert consultation.

Provides safety guidance for Civil Works and Military Construction, including hazards assessments, contractor compliance, and safety protocols for specialized operations such as dredging, marine, and hydropower.

Oversees programs like wellness, drug prevention, industrial hygiene, and hazardous waste management, ensuring health and safety compliance across various District operations.

Manages surveys, inspections, accident investigations, and risk assessments. Ensures corrective actions are taken based on findings and implements measures to mitigate hazardous conditions.
