Summary
This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), which is responsible for carrying out the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, passed by Congress in 2009. Commonly called the Tobacco Control Act, the law gives the CTP broad authority to regulate the manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products. The incumbent serves as a Regulatory Counsel in the Office of Regulations (OR).
Duties
Identifies key technical issues, and evaluates alternatives for complex administrative and technical standards, regulations, or policies.
Drafts or critically reviews regulatory documents embodying policy and program proposals and decisions on these products.
Provides advice on the interpretations of the laws, regulations, and policies applicable to the Center and Food and Drug Administration.
Makes recommendations to senior management officials that are designed to meet Congressional regulatory requests.
