Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount up to $200,000 & eligibility period one to five years are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The Primary Care (PC) Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical provider who utilizes critical thinking in the application the application of advanced clinical health care knowledge and skills, in conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations to Veterans. Performs medical record reviews and clinical interviews, performs medical assessments & evaluations, makes diagnoses/ renders medical opinions, and develops a comprehensive treatment plan to include appropriate diagnostic testing, medication management/therapy, and specialty/subspecialty care referral where appropriate. Other specialized practices and procedures may be included when the PA and collaborating supervisory physician deem appropriate by completing the applicable documentation for approval. The PA will be assigned to a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) in an Outpatient Clinic. The PA will communicate with end users at other NCHCS sites to improve clinical advice and integration into the Patient Aligned Care Team processes. The PACT PA must meet a11 mandatory education requirements. The PACT PA will have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals. The incumbent must have the ability to navigate between various software and mainframe systems on a personal computer with an established operating system. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and possess effective interpersonal communication skills and telephone skills. The incumbent must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent must possess customer service and problem-solving skills. The incumbent must maintain certification as a Physician Assistant. The incumbent is subject to the provisions set by the Physician Assistant Professional Standards Board in areas of probationary period, promotion, and other actions requiring Board approval. Additionally, the incumbent must be current in all mandated annual review programs and take responsibility for attending in-service and continuing education activities. Major duties include but are not limited to: Maintain an integrated delivery system through expansion of clinical practices. Maintain operational efficiencies through emphasis on safe practices and national safety. Actively implements Lean principles, supports quality improvement projects and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement. Identifies symptoms and classifies them by acuity based upon collected data. Demonstrates basic triage knowledge in making appropriate clinical assessments. Relies on intuitive and systematic approaches (protocols) to make health assessments. Sorts, organizes group categories, compares, analyzes and synthesizes data about the client. Demonstrates knowledge regarding VA Administrative regulations such as entitlements, healthcare access points and local policies and procedures related to these elements. Educates and instructs clients on how symptoms can be treated. Other duties as assigned.
