This vacancy is for a GS-0080-9, Personnel Security Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECURITY CENTER CHESAPEAKE-CG-SPM-SC2 in CHESAPEAKE, Virginia.
Duties
You will serve as a Personnel Security Specialist and be responsible for serving as a member of the Adjudicative Team; processing security clearance actions for various personnel groups; providing customer service; and supporting communications, records maintenance, quality control, and policy coordination for the Security Center, including interim clearances, SCI access, and HSPD-12 activities. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Retrieving, reviewing, and evaluating electronic case files, supporting documents, and prior investigative records to support personnel security determinations. Requesting, obtaining, and analyzing prior outside agency investigations to identify relevant information for clearance or suitability processing. Reviewing and assessing investigative submissions to determine eligibility for interim clearance, pre-appointment processing, or other personnel security actions. Receiving, scoping, and preparing case documents, clearance applications, suitability applications, and electronic security questionnaires for processing. Initiating, coordinating, processing, and documenting security clearance requests through database entries, case tracking, discrepancy resolution, and procedural compliance. Requirements
