Summary

This position is located in the regional Office of the Solicitor, in New York, NY. This regional office is responsible for the trial in U.S. District Courts and before administrative law judges of all civil litigation enforces by the Department of Labor, providing legal advisory services to regional agency personnel and other Department of Labor components in states and areas within the Office's jurisdiction. This position is outside the bargaining unit.

Duties

Assist attorneys in litigation support tasks such as compiling and organizing materials and cases for use in court appearances and litigation proceedings. Scans, indexes, and saves case investigation files into the appropriate case management system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with office filing procedures and naming conventions. Schedule witnesses for depositions, arranges for court reporters and meeting rooms, and contacts private attorneys on routine scheduling and administrative matters. Identifies and flags items requiring legal judgment for attorney review and action. Deal with employers, court clerks, and other government officials to obtain or provide factual information on active cases or to follow up on case-related administrative matters. Assist with procurement arrangements in support of office mission needs, under the direction of the managers and management analyst. Assist with additional administrative management activities.
