Summary

As a Network Specialist , you will provide a variety of services in three or more of the following IT specialties: Customer Support, Data Communications, Internet, Network Services, Policy & Planning, Network Security. Location of position: The GSA IT, Office of Digital Infrastructure Technologies We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

As a Network Specialist you will perform the following duties: Determines networking needs and installs/reviews hardware and software to maintain network integrity and accessibility. Provides technical guidance, coordination, and advice for the planning, integration, upgrade, and maintenance of agency-wide and regional network hardware and systems. Conducts research to develop or acquire new IT products and services that increase system and user efficiency. Leads or participates in agency-wide network and IT program projects from design through support. Develops and designs methods and processes for testing, demonstrating, and prototyping new network technologies.

Requirements

If selected, you must meet the following conditions: Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service. Serve a one year probationary period, if required. Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 4 investigation level). Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position.

How you will be evaluated

A panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will review the application of qualified candidates and assign a score for each of the five required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) based on the experience documented in the resume and narrative responses. Knowledge of network design concepts, standards, and methods, as well as project management principles, methods, and practices for addressing and managing a diverse array of IT issues and projects. Skill in providing technical advice and guidance on IT network issues, and applying new developments to problems. Ability to conduct research to develop or acquire new IT products and services that increase system and user efficiency. Ability to lead or participate in agency-wide network and IT program projects through the full project lifecycle, from initial design and development through implementation, testing, and ongoing support. Knowledge of developing and design methods and or processes for testing, demonstrating, and prototyping new network technologies. Demonstration of these KSAs must be supported by your application.
