Summary

This position is located in the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a national museum for the study and exhibition of African American history and culture. Duties

The IT Specialist (Sys Admin) is responsible for ensuring the availability and functionality of the Museum's IT systems. In the position, you will: Install, configure, troubleshoot, test and maintain hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of NMAAHC's IT systems. Perform administrative duties related to the system administration of IT systems, that include participation in system development lifecycle processes for new or modified systems; assist with licensing renewals and replacements. Perform research and provide oversight of contract vendors performing work on smaller IT contracts, purchase orders, and/or task orders. Assist in conducting studies or analysis on existing and new systems that encompass one or more areas of IT (security, applications, LAN/WAN, customer support, audio/video, etc.); participate in identifying operational improvements, developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture; and perform a variety of telecommunication control functions. Assist with management of IT property inventory and accounting for equipment throughout the museum.

Knowledge & exp. in selecting and using rules, regulations & procedures for lifecycle processes. Knowledge & exp. in rules, regulations and procedures related to Federal Contracting & providing oversight to outside vendors. Knowledge & exp. with assisting in the study & analysis of one or more areas of IT (security, applications, LAN/WAN, customer support, audio/video, etc.). Knowledge & exp. with assisting with mgmt. of IT property.
