Summary

You will serve as an INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS SPECIALIST (Host Nation Coordinator) in the Host Nation Affairs Office of COMMANDER NAVY REGION EUROPE, in Naples, Italy.

Duties

You will serve as the Chief of the Host Nation Affairs office and represent the Commander, CNIC Region's mission.

You will serve as a point of contact/ liaison to the Host Nation on maters including but not limited to the release or acquisition of real estate for United States Navy requirements.

You will provide expertise and advising on possible effects and potential programs arising from policies, programs, defense plans and activities in Italy.

You will recommend courses-of-action to maintain and ensure the smooth functioning of the U.S. Italian security/Local Official relationships.

You will develop quality products (policies, plans, programs, papers, analyses, briefings) on security, economic and political topics relating to U.S. Italy bilateral, and multilateral regional relations.

You will provide information during bilateral negotiations, guidance on international agreements, and authoritative information and evaluation of problems.

You will regularly advise United States participants of appropriate protocol and political/economic/social aspects of an agenda.

You will provide advice/coordination for senior military commanders on matters of the Host Nation-American relations and protocols.

Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: A bachelor's or high degree with a major or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; or 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods. OR A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major that included at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities, plus four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs or additional education; or 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods, plus addition education or appropriate experience gained through residence, study, teaching, business or commercial activities, military service, newspaper work, military or civil government activities, missionary or inter-national relief work, or other experience in foreign countries. (Experience may also have been gained through teaching college-level courses in international relations or problems associated with a specific foreign geographic area). OR Have at least four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields listed above in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.
