Duties

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), Department of Athletics, anticipates filling the TERM full-time position of INSTRUCTOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (NCAA COMPLIANCE). This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 5 years. Extensions and/or Subsequent re-appointments may be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability. Major Duties of the Position: Position will perform faculty duties in the Department of Athletics, United States Air Force Academy. Will teach undergraduate courses in Physical Education. Performs duties under the supervision of the Senior Compliance Administrator. Provides NCAA rules education to coaches and athletic department staff on a regular and recurring basis. Conducts annual rules education with assigned sports teams. Conducts research and provides guidance on rules applications to coaches and staff and, when necessary, requests official interpretations from the Mountain West Conference or the NCAA. Advises first-year cadet-athletes on NCAA Eligibility Center procedures and requirements and tracks initial eligibility status. Has direct compliance oversight of assigned sports teams. May teach physical education classes as directed by the Executive Director of Athletics. Provides instruction to cadet-athletes in physical education throughout the year as directed by the Athletics Department. Ensures strict compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Monitors all recruiting and practice season activities for assigned sports teams. Assists with rules violation investigations as necessary and recommends corrective actions. Maintains a comprehensive database containing recruit and cadet-athlete information. Uses NCAA applications for submitting interpretation and waiver requests for assigned sports teams. Assists in certifying eligibility for cadet athletes in assigned sports. Prepares NCAA squad lists for assigned sports teams. Conducts compliance reviews for assigned sports teams. Participates in monthly conference calls and annual MWC and NCAA compliance seminars. Assists in the completion and submission of required NCAA reports as directed by the Senior Compliance Administrator.

Education

EDUCATION: If selected, you will be requested to provide original copies of ALL OFFICIAL transcripts for degrees being pursued or obtained (or letter of degree completion if an OFFICIAL transcript is not available due to recent graduation) to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a transcript to be considered OFFICIAL, it should be printed on university letterhead and the registrar's official seal/signature must appear on the transcript. Your transcripts must also reflect the degree awarded/conferred date. Transcripts labeled UNOFFICIAL will not be accepted. Upon request, ensure you include ALL transcripts to support your educational claims as stated in your curriculum vitae (resume) even if not required for this position. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
