Summary

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) serves as the IT hub of the U.S. Department of Labor. We develop, maintain and protect IT solutions and data across our 27 agencies to enable mission outcomes through technology and service. OCIO continually enhances federal IT and digital capability with a focus on cybersecurity and customer experience to serve America's wage earners, job seekers and retirees.

Duties

The position serves as a technical expert in the development, maintenance, security and application of data systems, architecture and design. Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Develop solutions and applications to integrate, store, process and analyze a wide variety of data sets from across program-specific and enterprise-wide systems, which support the delivery of descriptive reporting and advanced analytics. Serve as a technical expert in the analysis and design of data resources. The work includes conceptual, logical and physical data modeling, data requirements identification, data flow diagramming and analysis, metadata identification and management; and expertise in data source to target mapping and analysis, data migration, and extract, transform, and load design and implementation. Consult with customers and apply analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations. Translate business needs into architecture solutions. Oversee, plan, design, and synchronize initiatives across a broad spectrum of functional areas that include integration of programs and projects, process improvements, structure changes, modernization as it relates to data architecture. Gather and analyze business requirements, goals and objectives, and business process architecture to identify information requirements, process/application points of interaction and usage patterns. The position may be located at any of the DOL office locations, if available. The advertised salary range reflects the minimum and maximum pay for all locations. Final salary will be determined based on the selectee's assigned duty station in accordance with applicable locality pay tables.
