Summary

This position is in the Department of Justice, Office of Information and Policy (OIP), Initial Request Staff. The OIP, Initial Request Staff is responsible for processing Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests for records maintained by the Offices of the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, Associate Attorney General, Legislative Affairs, Public Affairs and Legal Policy.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a Government Information Specialist, GS-0306-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: * Monitoring Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) guidelines for agency wide application. * Providing guidance in the development and establishment of FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) policies and procedures. * Managing a department's FOIA program. * Developing ways to resolve problems directly affecting the FOIA process. * Preparing FOIA reports. * Interpreting regulations or agency policies regarding the release of information under the FOIA.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
